48 Hrs of 4-H

When: October 12-13, 2024

What: Join us this fall in seeing just how much we can give back to our communities!  The weekend after National 4-H Week, is the perfect opportunity to setup a service project.  Invite your friends, clubs, adult volunteers and 4-H Alums too!  Find all the information HERE and start planning your projects.  Please register your projects and then follow up with a report so we know about all the great things that happened across the state.  48 Hours of 4-H is the perfect compliment to #InspireKidstoDo

Dog Conference & Quiz Bowl

When:  October 21-22, 2023

What:  Kansas 4-H Dog Conference and Quiz Bowl

Who:  The educational sessions are open to youth and adults interested in the Kansas 4-H Dog project.  To participate in the quiz bowl and public speaking 4-H enrollment is required.

Kansas Youth Leadership Forum (KYLF)

When:  November 18-19, 2023

Registration Deadline:  October 16, 2023 - Registration Link

Where:  Rock Springs 4-H Center

Who:  Youth 14-18 years of age by January 1, 2023

Fee:  $200 and additional optional $50 for Friday overnight and breakfast

Build your leadership skills and potential through workshops, consulting groups, inspirational speakers and more.  In addition, the 2024 State 4-H Youth Leadership Council will be elected and up to six National 4-H Conference delegates will be selected through an interview process at KYLF.

Horse Panorama

When:  Saturday, January 27th, 2024

Registration Deadline:  Tuesday, January 2, 2024

Where:  K-State Salina Campus

Who:  Youth 14-18 years of age by January 1, 2024

Fee:  TBA

Horse Panorama is a compilation of various contests related to the Horse Project. Contests include: Horse Bowl, Hippology, presentations, photography, design and more. Registration will be completed via Qualtrics.

Citizenship in Action (CIA)

When:  February 18-19, 2024

Where:  Topeka KS - Hotel Topeka at City Center (formerly Capitol Plaza)

What:  Would you like to have more influence in laws and rules that affect your life? Then you’ll want to go to Kansas 4-H Citizenship in Action! This two day event is sponsored by the State 4-H Youth Leadership Council. The purpose of the event is for Kansas youth to learn how the state legislative process works and how their voice and participation in decision-making can make a difference in their local communities. The legislative visit will not only familiarize youth with the capitol building, but will also show them how they can affect the legislative process.

Discovery Days

When:  June 5-7, 2024

Who:  Youth ages 13-18 years of age by January 1, 2023

Discovery Days objectives:

  • Help youth learn new ideas, techniques, and skills they can use personally and in their 4-H clubs or groups and communities
  • Give youth in-depth training through hands-on educational sessions from content and youth development experts
  • Prepare youth to make informed decisions about their careers and college path
  • Enhance personal growth by giving opportunities to develop responsibility, confidence, independence, accountability, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
  • Help youth meet new people and make new friends from different places and with different backgrounds from across the state
  • Provide an opportunity for youth to experience the KState campus and its wealth of resources
  • Develop college and career readiness skills which prepare participants academically and socially for a successful transition to college and life as an adult

Kansas Horse Judging Camp & Contest

When:  TBD (June 2024)

Registration Deadline:May 15th, 11:59 PM

The State 4-H Horse Judging is scheduled for Thursday, June 15th at the Saline County Livestock & Expo Center in Salina, KS. The KSU Horse Judging Camp will be held prior to judging on June 13th & 14th on Campus. The Advanced session will be on the 13th & 14th, with a beginner session on the 14th. The camp is open to 4-H and non 4-H members. 4-Hers will then be able to use these skills and apply them on Thursday for the judging contest. Registration for both the camp and the contest is expected to be released in April.

Kansas Junior Livestock Show (KJLS)

Where:  Kansas State Fairgrounds, Hutchinson, KS

Registration Deadline:  Tuesday, August 15, 2024 by 11:59pm (Entries can still be made August 16-25 but the fees double!)
